Sylvia examined the barn Micah used for training. It was an open design with support poles spread throughout. The only full wall was on the backside, but each side had a half wall about ten feet out and around seven feet high. The total height of the structure ranged about twelve feet. The back wall and roof held a multitude of bars and rings in different sizes and lengths. In some places, their shapes were even odd. It reminded her of an obstacle course.

The ground was packed dirt, sprinkled with hay. Bales were spread intermittently around the perimeter. A small ring sat in the center of the building. Memories of yesterday’s sparring assailed her and she smiled. Her defense was terrible, but he hadn’t hesitated to kiss her. Her face heated at the possibility of more opportunities to explore the art of kissing.

“So, what do you think?” Micah asked interrupting her thoughts.

“It’s nice, a lot of space to train,” she offered with a weak smile, not really sure what to say.

“I built it for the twins a few years ago. Males tend to have a lot of excess energy. This always helped them burn it off. When I’m home from assignment, I tend to spend a lot of time in here myself.” He patted his stomach. “It keeps me fit in my old age.”

She smiled at his ridiculous statement. Shifters didn’t get fat. Changing to their animal form burned a lot of energy. They made up for that by eating foods high in protein, mostly meats.

“Your sons are great.”

“They are,” he snarled.

She wondered at his irritation. Was he jealous of his own sons? She watched him take his shirt off and nearly fainted on the spot. His abs were defined to perfection. Nope, he had no worries about how he compared to two fifteen-year-old boys, even if they were shifters. He would make an angel weep with his sex appeal. Her body warmed as she examined his torso. The smell of forest clung to him and even from this distance her senses were overrun with desire.

She took a deep breath in an attempt to calm her nervousness and her now active libido. Something she’d never had to worry about until Micah. The wolves from her father’s territory never gave her the time of day. Charlotte’s pleasure was always more important.

Here the wolves had been nicer, more courteous. Some even seemed interested. They were all gorgeous male specimens, of course. But, none made her tingle with just a look or sent volts of electricity thrumming through her body from a mere touch.

She needed to relax and concentrate on his teachings. Learning how to defend herself was not a wasted effort. Though last night’s incident was unusual, her sister had many unstable moments.

“Where do we begin?”

“Come here,” he whispered motioning with his hand.

Sylvia swallowed the lump in her throat and stepped forward with trepidation. She felt unstable all of a sudden and was unsure how wise it would be to have Micah’s unclothed body so close to her own.
